Redfall is Receiving Several Updates and a New Offline Mode Despite Arkane Austin’s Closure

While Redfall wasn’t the success story that Bethesda and Arkane hoped for, and with the announcement of the Arkane Austin being dissolved by Microsoft, there’s still some good news to come out of this. Redfall, no matter how you look at it, still managed to find an audience, and while things look dim, Arkane Austin has mentioned that before the lights go off, one final update to Redfall will be released. Per a post on the official Redfall Twitter account, the game will receive several updates a

No, Assassin’s Creed Shadows Will not Require an Online Connection at all Times

Yesterday was quite the day for the announcement of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows game, that’s for sure. Outside of the apparent discourse that set the internet on fire, there was also the tidbit that the game would require an online connection. Let’s be obvious here… most games that are released anymore need an online connection for various things. DRM, updates, and yes, even installs. Don’t tell me you haven’t purchased a console game from the store and discovered it needed to install its

Ubisoft’s Upcoming PVP Shooter XDefiant PC Specs Detailed

Ahead of the release of Ubisoft’s upcoming free-to-play PVP shooter, XDefiant (formerly known as Tom Clancy’s XDefiant), the PC specs you’ll need to be able to play the title have been released. These PC requirements start at minimum, all the way to ultra, where you’ll be in 4K territory. The latter is odd since this is a PVP title and the last thing people who these types worry about is playing at 4K and lower frame rates. Still, the options are there and not as taxing as many titles that offe

The Ability to Respec Could be Coming to No Rest For The Wicked Sooner Than Expected

One of the things I’ve wished for in Moon Studios No Rest For The Wicked was the ability to respec my character so that I can try out some of the gear I’ve picked up along the way. As the game stands, that’s not possible, and to try out new gear you don’t have the stats for, I’d have to start a new character. This is both time-consuming and a bit frustrating. However, that looks like this may be a thing of the past very shortly, thanks to a recent tease from Gennadiy Korol from Moon Studios rega

At long last, after two years of waiting, Ubisoft has revealed what was once codenamed Assasin’s Creed Red as Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the next part of a series that seemingly knows no end. During today’s reveal of the game, Ubisoft showed off a new trailer that showcased the game and gave us a look at the two protagonists of the game: Naoe, a shinobi, and Yasuku, a samurai and one that is based upon a character who existed in Japan during the 16 century. Live the intertwined stories of Naoe,

The Best Portable Capture Devices for Recording Gameplay on the Go

When it comes to gaming capture devices or capture cards, the market is full of them. From Elgato to Avermedia and several others, there are so many that it can make someone’s head spin when they are looking for a capture card for the first time or a replacement. However, this mainly pertains to either internal capture cards or external capture devices that function with a PC. But what if you need an external capture device that works without the need for a PC or a laptop? That’s where things g

Ghost of Tsushima on PC Shows that PlayStation Still Hasn’t Learned Anything

Something is going on over at PlayStation, and I don’t understand what it is. Just a few weeks ago, we had the Helldivers 2 nonsense. You know, with PlayStation forcing the PSN requirements months after the game was launched, which would have stripped it from countless owners, all because they weren’t in a region where the PlayStation Network was available. Now, it’s happening again, this time with the acclaimed title Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut from Sucker Punch, with Nixxes helping with t

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is Now Assassin’s Creed Shadows Ahead of Wednesday’s Trailer Reveal

After years of waiting, Ubisoft has finally announced it is ready to show off more of its upcoming Assassin’s Creed, originally codenamed Assassin’s Creed Codename Red. Gaming journalist Jeff Grubb first leaked this title during a podcast, and it was eventually confirmed by Ubisoft during the Ubisoft Forward September 2022 event. It’s an ambitious title that fans of the series have been looking forward to, as this will be the game that will finally take place in Feudal Japan. It has been given a

Is 16GB of RAM Enough for PC Gaming or Do You Need More

When it comes to PC gaming, there has always been the question as to how much RAM you really need. Of course, in the past, it was 8GB, which eventually was bumped up to 16 GB. Ah, yes, 16GB of RAM is definitely the recommended amount, however, there are those who settle for 32GB of RAM. Yet, I’ve seen people striving to get 64GB or more than that, which works, and other times it doesn’t. There’s the fact that memory channels on consumer-level motherboards just aren’t meant for so much RAM. Stil

Asus ROG Ally X is an Updated Version of the Popular Handheld Gaming PC

Asus has been in the spotlight for its first handheld PC, the Asus ROG Ally. While it had its downside, with issues with the microSD, the device sold well. Now, the popular PC maker has revealed the updated version of the device, the Asus ROG Ally X. This new device will act as a mid-fresh, similar to what Valve did with the Steam Deck OLED. For sure, don’t call this the ROG Ally 2, but this isn’t it. What the ROG Ally X does have is a number of updates over the original device, much more batte

Archaeogem is a Fun Yet Frustrating Platfomer that’s Relasing on PC Soon

You know we love Indie games here on The Outerhaven, and there’s an upcoming title called Archaeogem that I’m sure will grab your attention just as much as it grabbed mine. This is yet another project from Gagonfe, a one-person game developer who also developed Doomed to Hell, a game that my son introduced me to back in 2022. Archaeogem is an upcoming pixel art platforming title in which players will head off into an unexplored location and use their wits and skills to collect gems without fall

Episode 9 of X-Men ’97 Concludes with a Homage to one of the Most Memorable Moments in X-Men history

First up, X-Men ’97 has been an enjoyable surprise and has easily been some of Disney’s best stuff in quite some time. Okay, that said, this piece will talk about episode 9 of X-Men ’97 season 1. So, if you haven’t seen the episode yet, I highly recommend you skip this article, as it will spoil some stuff for you. Last chance, Bub. Okay, let’s get into the nitty-gritty. I’ve had so many people ask me, or I’ve seen the question on Twitter, that it stuck with me as odd. Don’t people read comic

Microsoft Closes 3 Bethesda Studios Due to Reprioritization of Titles and Resources Cuts

Today, Microsoft confirmed that it has closed several Bethesda studios, including Redfall developer Arkana Austin and Tango Gameworks, the studio that gave us The Evil Within series and Hi-Fi Rush, perhaps the best new IP to come out of Bethesda in years. These closures are part of Microsoft’s cuts, and employees of these studios were notified of the closures by email by the head of Xbox Game Studios, Matt Booty, according to Bloomberg and IGN. Here is the count of studios that are being closed

My Trust in Xbox is on Shaky Ground Right Now

I don’t know what to tell you right now. I’m utterly frustrated with Microsoft and Xbox right now, following the announcement that they are closing down four studios, and studios Xbox has spent an outrageous amount of money to acquire. Not to mention the damning tweets from various Xbox members, from Phil Spencer and Matt Booty to Aaron Greenberg. If you wanted damaging Xbox news and something to cause people to wonder what’s happening with the Xbox brand, this was it. These words are coming fr

The Helldivers 2 Situation Could Have Been Avoided in the First Place

Well, this weekend was one hell of a ride. First, Sony forced Arrowhead Game Studios to implement the PlayStation Network required login and mandate when it would start, which didn’t sit well with the PC gaming community. Then, that same community review bombed Helldivers 2 to heck and voiced its displeasure with Sony. I’ll admit, as a PC gamer, that wasn’t affected. I even joined in the effects by uninstalling Helldivers 2, and I’m waiting for my refund. Yet, just as I woke up on Saturday morni

Steam Providing Refunds for Helldivers 2 and Blocks Sale of the Game in Various Countries

Since Sony announced that the grace period for Helldivers 2 players being required to log into the PlayStation Network was nearly up, things have gotten very complicated and vocal. Not only has it been highlighted that Sony, not Arrowhead Game Studios, is pushing this change, but since then, Valve has also stepped up to the plate to help players affected by this while protecting others. The popular Twitter user Wario64 has revealed that Valve is approving refunds for those who have played Helld

PlayStation Enforcing Helldivers 2 PC Players to Use PSN Accounts isn’t Going Over Well

It seems that PlayStation is determined to force every PC gamer from ever playing Helldivers 2, and enforcing a requirement that should have been enforced on day one is a damned good way to set the world on fire. On Friday, May 3rd, 2024, Arrowhead Game Studios released a post on Steam and the Helldivers 2 Twitter account, regarding upcoming mandatory logins to the PlayStation Network as of May 6th, 2024. Those playing the game will be required to link the accounts by June 4th, 2024, or they wil
